| In this ever-growing world of commerciality and with the increase in sales of motorcycles, along with scooters, and more cars taking to the road, the DMA recognizes that unfortunately, more accidents may occur. The latest figures from the Department of Transport show that in the northwest alone, there were 2,363 people injured while riding a two-wheeled motor vehicle in 2001. This is why the DMA provides The Accident Support Scheme and its Information Base, to help and support those who need it after being involved in an accident or who may need pointing in the right direction. |
There is of course the "feel good factor", but the DMA fully understands that a successful business can not run on the "feel good factor" alone, it needs returns. The DMA can offer your company access to his members. It can also give your company the opportunity to promote its products and services to a different market. The two main fields that the DMA operate in are, the motorcycle fraternity and the disability arena. After all, we are all consumers. |
| The DMA attends the relevant events and shows related to disabilities and motorcycles. For example, the Manchester Bike Show is one of the largest in the UK and has an average of 28,000 people in attendance and the Rossendale Valley Show has around 25,000 people who attend the show. In fact, it's so successful the whole town is closed for 2 days to accommodate the visitors. The Warrington Disability Show has over 20,000 people who visit the show year on year. Where else could your company have access to such an opportunity to show the products and services to so many potential customers in such a captive space? The DMA also reaches out to those who use to ride and still have an interest in motorcycling, along with those who may have a disability and who are trying biking for the first time. We must not forget the "Born Again" motorcyclists, those whose families have left home to start their own families and left the parents with income to spare. The potential market place is huge, this offers a great opportunity. |
Co-operative Bank, Awards for All section of the National Lottery, Ultraseal, Granby Motors, M & P Direct and Lloyds TSB Foundation are just a few that have provided assistance to the DMA not only on a financial footing, but also in kind. In addition, there are other companies including Choicequote Insurance, Proshift Gear Change and a number of smaller companies who have suppoted the DMA along with Manchester City Council. The companies on the left also support the work we do. |
The DMA appreciates that not all companies support charities and those who do, do not always give support by way of a cash donation. However, it also understands that many businesses do make donations and there are those who support charities in kind and by taking advertising space in or on promotional material. The DMA offers all of these options to suit the needs of the company.

Magazine Advertising
The DMA's quarterly magazine Kick Start, produced in full colour is one of the best magazines within the voluntary sector and is possibly one of only a few magazines of its type in the whole of the UK. This provides a standard but popular opportunity to advertise your company in what one of the DMA's members described as "a damn good read". The rates of advertising are realistic and at the same time reflects the quality. The circulation of the magazine is estimated at approximate 2,500 which includes it being sent to all individual and business members, hospital staff, social services, motorcycle outlets, the voluntary sector and plays a major part in the display material when the DMA attends various shows and events. The DMA envisage that as the organisation grows so will the output of the magazine increase.
Business Membership
This is an easy way to support the DMA and is popular with smaller businesses. It involves contributing a set fee per year for which the company receives the DMA magazine, a link to the web site, business details put onto the datebase and 4 adverts per year in the magazine. And along with any editorial that the company wishes to have in the magazine that may involve a new product or service they are offering.
Website
The DMA's website is updated on a regular basis, not only with news and views, but structural changes are also made regularly. This is another good way to support the DMA by advertising directly on the site. Currently this site is being visited by an ever increasing amount of people, with the latest figures showing 500%.
Branding
This is fast becoming a popular way of supporting the DMA, with First National and the City council taking advantage of this option. The DMA promotional material at present has opportunities available for branding to be placed on their information/application forms, magazine, display material and a new product DMA clothing, for example, tee-shirts ete. There is also a chance for branding to be used on letterheads and stationery.
Sponsorship
Sometimes mistaken for advertising, the DMA suggests that if none of the already mentioned are suitable, but your company still wants to offer support, then it can help with certain events, projects or general running costs. For example, help with volunteer's expenses is always welcome. There is not just travelling fees, but the DMA realises that the volunteers need to have a snack or drink while visiting, so we try to accommodate for this.
Help in kind
Another way to support the DMA is to provide directly, such things as paper, ink, pens, computers and other usual stationary items. If you would like to help with a particular section of the DMA and would provide the funds, known as restricted income, then the money would only be used for the said purpose. Any support is acknowledged in the appropriate way.
Finally, if your company does provide assistance, then we regard it as a partnership and will endeavour to maintain the highest possible standard. Please contact the office for further details: The Disabled Motorcyclists Association
